Daniel Wilkerson anchors the weekend evening newscasts on FOX13 and reports during the week. He is an Emmy award-winning journalist born and raised in Memphis. Daniel’s parents, Danny and Gloria Renau, have been married for nearly 50 years and live less than two miles from the station. Daniel attended kindergarten at the University of Memphis’s Barbara K. Lipman Early Learning and Research Center. He then attended first through sixth grades at the University of Memphis’s Campus School. He went to White Station Junior High School before graduating from White Station High School in 1993. Daniel took classes at Southwest Tennessee Community College before transferring to the University of Memphis, where he graduated with a BA communications degree with a major in journalism. While at the University of Memphis, Daniel interned at WBBJ TV in Jackson, TN. WBBJ hired Daniel as a reporter six months before his college graduation. He worked in Jackson for one year before accepting a job as a reporter at KTHV in Little Rock. After two years in Arkansas, Daniel’s travels took him to Atlanta. Daniel worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor at WGCL TV for six years before accepting the job at FOX13 in Memphis in the fall of 2021. Daniel loves advocating for people in the community who face challenges and who often feel they have no voice. He speaks at jails, volunteers in the community, and serves on boards of organizations that champion civil and human rights and for the rights of children.
