Few local restaurants open as Mid-South deals with boil water advisories

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Many restaurants were closed in Memphis on Monday due to a boil water advisory.

FOX13 went in search of open restaurants and found very few open. Many had signs on doors stating they were closed due to the boil water advisory and would reopen Tuesday or whenever water was restored.

Venice Kitchen on Perkins Extended in East Memphis was one of few restaurants open, but a sign indicated the restaurant was only providing takeout.

“Well, that was kind of the point of coming out to dine-in, so we won’t be dining here. We’ll have to go somewhere else,” said William Mack, a customer hoping to dine at Venice Kitchen.

Mack said a day after Christmas he was hoping to dine-in with friends.

“It’s unfortunate. I came out to have a sit-down bite with some old friends and now I can’t, so we have to find another location,” said Mack.
