MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Light Gas and Water had another round of water giveaways Thursday.
Customers lined up as early as 7:30 a.m. at one location for free drinking water.
MLGW officials and volunteers were busy Thursday, distributing free bottled water to customers at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
MLGW hosted water giveaways at three locations Thursday. The other two were at Southwest Community College - Whitehaven and New Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church hosted the first giveaway, starting at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Cars began lining up early.
Because there were so many people there, Oak Grove’s senior pastor said they decided to start earlier at 9:30 a.m. to shorten the wait time.
MLGW officials and several volunteers, including Fox 13′s Good Morning Memphis anchor Ernie Freeman, handed out the donated water.
One customer waiting in line told FOX13 that his hot water had been out for a week since last Thursday’s artic blast.
“I just got my hot water fixed, and now I’m getting this water,” MLGW customer Robert Ingran said. “The pressure was also gone in my house. I’ve been going through it. So I am thankful for Oak Grove and for my God.”
