NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Teenagers looking to get their driver’s license in Tennessee have a new option.
Tennessee’s Driver Services now offers the written Driver License Knowledge Test online.
Teenagers between the ages of 15 to 17 who must take a written test can now take the test online under a proctor’s supervision via the Tennessee Proctor Identification (PID) App.
The proctor can be a parent or legal guardian who obtains a highly secure personal identification via the Proctor Identification (PID) App. Personal identification information must be registered by verifying themselves against their Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security (TDOSHS) record.

A computer, tablet, or laptop is required to take the online knowledge test.
A Parent/Legal Guardian can only register/administer up to five applicants.
Applicants must achieve a minimum score of 80% to pass the test.
Applicants who fail the Knowledge Test must wait twenty-four hours to retest.
Applicants can only take the test online two times.
