12-year-old boy shot after gunfire in Raleigh, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two people were shot in Raleigh Saturday night.

On Sep. 17 at approximately 10:45 PM, Memphis Police responded to a shooting at Ann Arbor Court in Raleigh.

When officers arrived, they found a man and boy, 12, both shot.

The man was taken to Regional One in critical condition, and the 12-year-old was taken to LeBonheur in non-critical condition.

FOX13′s reporter Dakarai Turner went to the scene to find the answer to how it happened.

Children falling victim to gun violence in the city of Memphis is something that many people have seen for a while.

But checking crime statistics published online by the City of Memphis and Memphis Police for areas off of Raleigh, it’s something that’s surprising to witness.

“It shocked me last night. My mouth just dropped. I have no words. Seeing these innocent babies getting shot and killed, is really tearing our city up” one resident who lives nearby said.

Witnesses said they heard 6 gunshots.

There is no suspect information at this time, but FOX13 is working to learn more.

This is still an ongoing investigation.
