FOX13′s SEASON OF GIVING: Alpha Omega Veteran’s Services, Inc

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Established in 1987 by Ola Mae Ransom for her two sons who were Vietnam veterans, it is considered the first organization of its kind in Memphis and one of the first in the US.

Thousands of veterans have been helped through Alpha Omega. It currently has six housing facilities in Memphis and vets can stay in transitional housing for 60 days to two years, depending on their needs.

The mission statement is simple, help veterans help themselves. The services are designed to meet a veteran’s physical, social and psychological needs to promote health, security, happiness, and usefulness in our society.
