Armed suspects rob three near the University of Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two armed suspects robbed three people near the University of Memphis Monday night, according to and email sent to students, faculty and staff.

No injuries were reported. Memphis Police is helping the U of M in the investigation.

Officials said the first robbery happened just before 9:30 p.m. when two men wearing ski masks and armed with handguns demanded personal items from a man and woman walking on Central Avenue near DeLoach Street.

The robbers left in what police described is a four-door, red Mercedes with a Tenn. license No. 864BGSC.

About a minute later, a suspect robbed another woman walking alone in the 1300 block of Northwood Drive, according to the report.

The car was last seen headed west on Northwood toward Highland.
