50th Annual Pink Palace Crafts Fair underway at Audubon Park

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The 50th Annual Pink Palace Crafts Fair is underway this weekend.

The annual festival celebrates arts and crafts and benefits the Museum of Science and History, according to a release from MoSH Memphis.

The event is open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Audubon Park in East Memphis.

Parking is free.

Customers are asked not to bring pets.

The crafts fair was first held in 1973 and featured around 30 craftsmen set up on the lawn in front of the Pink Palace mansion.

Over the next two decades, the Pink Palace Crafts Fair grew into a major event with added fine craftsmen, traditional craft demonstrations, music, children’s activities and traditional cooking demonstrations. When the museum grounds couldn’t contain the crowds, the fair was moved to Audubon Park.

The event is now the largest juried arts and crafts fair in the Mid-South, according to the release.

“Our fair has something for everyone – fine crafts artists, historic crafts demonstrations, family-friendly performances on stage, hands-on learning, kids’ activities, and of course, lots of shopping,” says Pam Dickey, chair of the Pink Palace Crafts Fair. “We’re expecting around 150 artists from around the country to join us this year.”

Vendor items include eclectic pottery, jewelry, glass, 2-D art, and more.

Live music, food, and drink vendors will be available, according to the release.

Kids can visit the petting zoo, ride the train, take a pony ride, or try the climbing wall.
