Memphis Police said the girl was taken to Le Bonheur in non-critical condition.

Reniya West suffered two broken legs, a broken pelvic bone and injuries to her spine.

Since then, she has undergone multiple surgeries and won’t be able to walk for four to six months.

FOX13 met up with Reniya and her family after the ordeal, while she read get well cards from classmates at Memphis Delta Prep.

“I want to be up and running around with my family,” she said.

The high-energy girl said she’s thankful to be home with family after such a scary experience. She said she didn’t see the truck that hit her before it was too late.

“My brother said, ‘look out,’ I didn’t see it. We thought it was going another way, the car was on the concrete and ran over me. I was on the sidewalk.”

Her mother, Eric Grice, quit her job to give Reniya 24-hour care.

“This happened in the blink of an eye,” she said.

Grice said her Christmas wish is only to be able to see her child move again and play with her friends.

“I want to take my baby pain. I don’t wish this on nobody. Like nobody. My baby got metal all through her. "

The driver of the pick-up truck that hit Reniya did stay at the scene of the crash.

Memphis Police did document the accident, but did not give the driver a citation because the accident happened on private property.

“Even though I can’t move right now, I can push through this,” Reniya said.
